Hockey Nutrition Blueprint™

Become a dominant three-period performer

The Hockey Nutrition Blueprint™ gives competitive hockey players the performance nutrition system they need to fuel with confidence, recover with purpose, and deliver consistent game play from puck drop to final buzzer.

Hockey players spend countless hours training to improve their skills, strength, and conditioning. But even the best training program cannot overcome an athlete who doesn’t have the fuel to perform.

The Hockey Nutrition Blueprint teaches players how to build the nutrition habits behind sustained energy, faster recovery, and consistent performance — so they can maximize every opportunity they earn on the ice.

Imagine stepping onto the ice knowing you’re ready.

You have the energy to compete through every shift.

You don’t fade late in games.

You recover faster between practices and tournaments.

You understand exactly how to fuel before, during, and after competition.

You have the confidence that your nutrition is supporting your goals — not holding you back.

That’s the advantage of mastering your fuelling strategy.

This isn’t another generic meal plan.

Most hockey players don’t need another list of foods they’re “allowed” to eat.

They need to understand:

  • how much fuel their body needs
  • when to eat around practices and games
  • how to recover between competitions
  • how to adapt when life gets busy

The Hockey Nutrition Blueprint gives athletes a practical system they can use throughout their hockey career.

I 100% recommend Melissa’s coaching to anyone wanting to up their game. My nutrition has never been better.

Your teachings have changed my attitude towards food and lifestyle. Honestly, thank you so much. what others are saying

Melissa led several nutritional workshops for my U15 Ottawa Jr. 67’s AAA hockey team. The information was well organized and presented in a clear manner so that 14- and 15-year-olds were able to process and implement it into their respective routines. As the season progressed, we clearly witnessed players incorporating what they learned into their eating habits. Thanks so much, Melissa, for your time, effort, and patience.

    Inside The Hockey Nutrition Blueprint

The Hockey Nutrition Blueprint is built around the Fuel. Recover. Perform. Method™ — a practical performance nutrition framework designed to help hockey players build the habits behind consistent energy, faster recovery, and better performance.

Through seven step-by-step modules, players will learn how to fuel for training, games, tournaments, and the demands of a competitive hockey season — without restrictive rules, confusing nutrition advice, or unrealistic expectations.

Click the tabs below to explore each module ⤵️

Module 1: Master the Basics of Hockey Nutrition

Build the foundation behind consistent performance.

Before players can optimize game-day nutrition, they need to understand the fundamentals that support energy, strength, growth, and recovery.

This module breaks down the role of carbohydrates, protein, fats, hydration, and balanced meals so players understand what their body needs to perform at its best.

    Why this matters:
When players understand how nutrition impacts performance, they can stop guessing and start fuelling with purpose — both on and off the ice.

    Module 2: Optimize Pre-Game Fuelling

Game-day performance starts before the puck drops.

The right pre-game meal can make the difference between feeling energized and feeling flat when it matters most.

Players will learn how to choose the right foods, timing, and portions before practices and games — whether they’re heading to a morning tournament, an evening matchup, or a busy game day after school.

    Why this matters:
Players step onto the ice feeling prepared, energized, and confident that their nutrition is supporting their performance.

Module 3: Fuel Through Every Shift

Maintain energy from puck drop to final buzzer.

Hockey is a high-intensity sport, and even the best-prepared athletes can struggle when they run out of fuel.

This module teaches players how to stay energized during practices, games, and tournaments through proper hydration, bench snacks, and between-period fuelling strategies.

    Why this matters:
Players can avoid energy crashes and maintain the intensity, focus, and decision-making they need throughout the entire game.

Module 4: Recover Like an Athlete

The next performance starts with recovery.

Great athletes don’t just focus on competition — they know how to prepare their bodies for what comes next.

Players will learn how nutrition, hydration, sleep, and recovery strategies work together to repair muscles, support adaptation, and help them bounce back between practices and games.

    Why this matters:
Better recovery means players can show up stronger, more prepared, and ready for their next opportunity.

Module 5: Master Tournament and Travel Nutrition

Stay fuelled wherever hockey takes you.

Tournament weekends, road trips, and busy schedules can make nutrition challenging — but they don’t have to derail performance.

Players will learn how to plan meals, snacks, and hydration strategies when they’re away from home, eating at arenas, travelling with their team, or managing back-to-back games.

    Why this matters:
Players can stay consistent through demanding hockey weekends instead of letting their nutrition become the weak link.

Module 6: Build Habits That Support Long-Term Performance

Consistency is what separates good athletes from great ones.

Performance isn’t built from one perfect meal or one great game. It’s built through daily habits that support training, recovery, and development.

This module helps players create sustainable routines around fuelling, hydration, sleep, and recovery while understanding how stress, gut health, and overall wellness impact performance.

    Why this matters:
Players develop the confidence and habits they need to support their hockey goals for years to come.

Module 7: Adapt Your Nutrition for Your Unique Needs

    Every hockey player is different.

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to performance nutrition.

This module helps players understand how to adapt their nutrition based on their individual needs, including food allergies, dietary preferences, and changing training demands.

    Why this matters:
Players learn how to make informed decisions and adjust their fuelling strategies throughout their hockey journey.

Who is the Hockey Nutrition Blueprint for?

The Hockey Nutrition Blueprint is designed for competitive hockey players (U15–U18, AAA, AA, junior, and other high-performance athletes) who want to improve their fuelling, recovery, and performance.

It’s ideal for players who want to build the nutrition habits that support consistent energy, faster recovery, and better performance from puck drop to final buzzer. Parents are encouraged to be involved, especially when supporting their athlete’s fuelling at home.

What if my teen’s team already had a nutrition workshop?

Team workshops are a great way to introduce players to the foundations of performance nutrition. The Hockey Nutrition Blueprint takes that education further with deeper guidance, practical tools, and ongoing support to help players apply nutrition strategies throughout the season.

Players learn how to build their own fuelling routines for practices, games, tournaments, and recovery — not just hear information during a one-time session.

Our strength and conditioning coach already gives nutrition advice—how is this different?

Strength and conditioning coaches play an important role in athlete development, and many provide valuable nutrition guidance as part of their programs.

The Hockey Nutrition Blueprint takes a deeper look at the specific fuelling demands of hockey performance — from game-day nutrition and tournament preparation to recovery, hydration, and building sustainable habits.

As a hockey player and Certified Holistic Nutritionist, Melissa combines nutrition expertise with firsthand experience competing at a high level to provide practical strategies athletes can actually apply throughout their season.

Why should I invest in this course when I can just Google nutrition tips?

There is no shortage of nutrition advice online — but most of it isn’t designed specifically for hockey players or the demands of a competitive hockey season.

The Hockey Nutrition Blueprint gives players a step-by-step system to understand how to fuel, recover, and prepare for performance — with practical strategies they can actually apply around practices, games, tournaments, and travel.

Instead of piecing together conflicting advice online, players get a clear roadmap and expert guidance to help them build habits that support their performance long-term.

What if my teen already eats pretty well?

That’s a great starting point. The Hockey Nutrition Blueprint isn’t about completely changing the way an athlete eats — it’s about helping them understand how to fuel specifically for the demands of hockey.

Many athletes and families have strong nutrition habits already, but small changes in meal timing, hydration, recovery, and game-day fuelling can make a big difference in performance.

This course helps players fine-tune their approach, identify opportunities to improve, and build a fuelling strategy that supports their goals on and off the ice.

What if my teen plays other sports besides hockey?

The Hockey Nutrition Blueprint is designed specifically for hockey players, but the performance nutrition principles apply to many high-intensity team sports.

Athletes who also play sports like ringette, lacrosse, and other stop-and-start endurance sports can apply the same fuelling, hydration, and recovery strategies to support their overall athletic performance.

The foundation stays the same: giving athletes the tools they need to fuel, recover, and perform at their best.

    Will this course cover supplements?

Yes. The Hockey Nutrition Blueprint includes a bonus guide that helps players better understand the supplement world — including what supplements may support performance, what may not be worth the investment, and how to evaluate products safely.

This course does not provide individualized supplement recommendations or a personalized supplement stack. Athletes should always speak with a qualified healthcare professional before starting any new supplements, especially if they have medical conditions or are taking medications.

Why I created the hockey nutrition blueprint

I gave everything to hockey — but I was missing the fuel to match my goals.

I was drafted to the Canadian Women’s Hockey League, a dream I had worked toward my entire life.

I trained hard. I competed hard. I was often one of the top players on my teams.

But I didn’t understand how to properly fuel my body for the demands of high-level hockey.

I followed nutrition advice that wasn’t designed for athletes. I under-fuelled. I ignored signs my body was struggling. Over time, injuries, illness, and setbacks started taking away opportunities I had worked so hard for.

Eventually, I stepped away from hockey while recovering from post-concussion syndrome.

    Looking back, I realized something:

The hardest-working athletes aren’t always the ones who perform the best. They’re the ones who have the systems in place to support their performance.
